In an important initiative to safeguard the health and well-being of local youth, the London APSA Youth Project (LAYP) recently hosted an educational workshop on the dangers of nitrous oxide, commonly known as "laughing gas." The event, held in Manor Park, aimed to raise awareness about the serious health risks and legal implications associated with the recreational use of nitrous oxide.
Young people learned about the potential short-term effects, such as dizziness and disorientation, and the long-term risks, including nerve damage and mental health issues. The workshop highlighted how nitrous oxide abuse has become a growing concern within the community, affecting individuals’ health and safety.
Interactive activities and discussions enabled participants to explore the topic in depth, building a better understanding of the physical and legal consequences of using nitrous oxide. The session aimed to empower young people with knowledge to make informed decisions and resist the pressures that may lead to harmful behaviours.
Project Manager Hafiz Ahmed shared his thoughts on the workshop’s importance: “Educating our youth on issues like nitrous oxide abuse is crucial. By equipping them with knowledge, we’re giving them the power to make healthier choices for themselves and their futures.”
